Hey all! I had a question, I'm really looking for feedback on an idea. I want to do a group presentation and I'm looking for a way that students can hold each other accountable for doing an equal share of the work load. Does anyone have an effective way of doing this? Perhaps it could be put into the scoring rubric. Thanks.Scott

Here are a few alternatives:
o Have multiple components—one overall group presentation grade, an individual presentation grade, a written component turned in by individuals, etc.
o Take the grade, multiply it by the number of participants, and have the group decide on the distribution
o Grade the group project and collect individual papers explaining their contribution or their contributions and their assessment of others
o Group decides on a gatekeeper that keeps track of individual contributions, reports that to you, and determines points
o Have the group grade and an individual grade

Thanks Wendy! Those are helpful ideas. Scott

Wendy, I like the idea of multiplying the grade by the number of participants and having the group decide on the distribution. I tried the 'gatekeeper' idea and it didn't work so good in my Microbiology class, however, I didn't try to tweak it, just dropped it.
